3rd Primary Dose of Covid vaccination : Are you eligible?

The government has recommended a 3rd primary dose of the covid Pfizer for people who were immunosuppressed or on treatment that rendered them immunosuppressed at the time of their original vaccinations.

Immunosuppressant Illnesses: leukaemia acute/chronic, lymphomas, HIV ( not exhaustive list)

Immunosuppressant therapy: see list below details on these medications

Prednisolone : depending on doses/timing of doses when having original vaccinations ( see below) 

Medications:

  1. Rituximab
  2. Adalimumab ( Humira)
  3. Etanercept ( Enbrel)
  4. Secukinumab ( cosentyx)
  5. Fligotinib
  6. Upatacitinib
  7. Cyclophosphamide
  8. Mycophenolate at dose greater then 1000mg/day
  9. Methotrexate at dose greater 25mg/week
  10. Methotrexate at any dose if taking in combination with lefluonomide
  11. Azathioprine at dose greater then 3mg/kg
  12. Prednisolone >40mg/day for one week in month prior to original vaccinations
  13. Prednisolone >20mg/day for 10 days in month prior to original vaccinations
  14. Prednisolone >10mg/day for 1 month in 3 months prior to original vaccinations
  15. Prednisolone >7.5mg per day if combined with any of the following methotrexate, azathioprine, leflunomide, mycophenolate 

If you qualify for a 3rd primary dose you will require a consultation ( this can be done by phone) with your GP, where the vaccination will be discussed. There is no charge to you for this consultation. If you meet the criteria for a third vaccination a consent form will be sent to you to complete if you wish to get it, along with a prescription.

You will need to take both the signed consent form and the prescription to get your third dose, at a vaccination centre.

If you are unsure if you qualify please ring your specialist as they will be able to tell you if you do. Thank you for your patience as due to extra workload and a shortage of staff we are doing the best we can.

COVID-19 Swabs available. We remain open and are able to offer swabs to those needing them and generally have appointments available for this on the day. Please phone us first on 3853114 rather than just turning up and we’ll be happy to book you in. Saves you waiting in a queue elsewhere.

Throughout all Alert Levels Marshlands Family Health Centre will continue to provide you with our usual patient care.  As we have temporality suspended our online booking system, we ask all patients to please phone ahead to book a consultation, our phone number is 385 3114.

CONSULTATIONS

Face to face and telephone or video consultations are available (usual fees apply)

Please do not delay seeking any medical treatment under any alert level.

If you do come the practice for your appointment, we ask that you please remain in your car and phone us to let us know you have arrived.

COVID-19 SYMPTOMS AND SWABS

If you have any of the following symptoms you may be eligible for a COVID-19 swab and we would encourage you to phone us to book a suitable time to discuss with the Doctor.

  • sore throat
  • sneezing and runny nose
  • temporary loss of smell
  • fever
  • coughing
  • difficulty breathing.

Consultations for COVID-19 swabs are free of charge to patients and are usually done in the carpark.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS

You can still phone us for repeat prescriptions or order them online via our website https://www.marshlandsfamilyhealth.co.nz/resources/order-repeat-scripts/

Our preference is to send the prescription directly to the pharmacy for you so please indicate which pharmacy you would like your prescription sent to when you request it.

If you have any of the following symptoms we will ask that you wait in your car when you arrive and phone us to let us know you are here. Our carparks along the fence are numbered, so let us know which number park you are in when you arrive.
